Here at Operation ID, we like to get ourselves involved in a lot of musical projects. So, a few months back, when the Racer Sessions crew was asked to take part in Light Rail/Dark Rail, every member of Operation ID said “duh.”
Scene: we’re standing outside of a train station in Seattle’s International District, waiting to play weird music for an oddly large crowd of people on a train. Without warning, a saxophonist near the front of the train station starts playing hellishly amazing noise over the top of an unreasonably massive drum beat. Ladies and gentlemen, I present: Prawnyxx.
Prawnyxx is a bit hard to pin down. Looking at a description of the two of them (Zack Shaw on alto saxophone/baritone saxophone/theremin!/vocals/a shitload of effects pedals and Ethan Cudaback on drums/vocals), you might be tempted to think they’re some sort of perverted jazz group WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG these guys are just… pure… fucking… amazing… joy… I can’t feel my face… molten… augh. From covers of songs by the Darkness to old-school hip-hop to balls-to-the-wall (ow) punk to appropriations of high school cheers that end in a wanton lobbing of Pop-Its (there’s gotta be something illegal about throwing harmless fireworks inside oh whatever who cares it’s a party), Prawnyxx gets people dancing or crying or makes your brain explode can you tell that I think these guys are amazing?!?!? Also, they’re SUPER NICE FUCKING DUDES.
By the way, they’re playing with us at the Tractor Tavern on August 21st. Let me reiterate. PRAWNYXX is playing with OPERATION ID (and RELIGIOUS GIRLS) at the TRACTOR TAVERN on AUGUST TWENTY-FIRST TWO-THOUSAND-ELEVEN. This show is so legit that you can even buy tickets here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/Operation-ID-Plus-Prawnyxx-Religious-Girls-tickets/artist/1618697 GET OVER THERE AND LOSE YOUR VISAGE
